Phenom Poker keeps popping up among mid-to-high-stakes cash game grinders and mixed-game diehards. The reason is simple: It’s got some genuinely recognizable faces behind it, including Brian Rast, Viktor “Isildur1” Blom, Dan Cates, and Phil Laak are all part of the site’s Team Pro lineup. Viktor sitting with 500k at a PLO or 8-Game table is something rail birds will take notice of, as these types of games don’t happen that often online nowadays.
So the question everyone wants answered is simple: Can you actually trust this thing?
Phenom Poker has only been around since 2024, but it’s trying to stand out with a pitch most rooms don’t make: Play some cards, stake your tokens, and you can actually own a piece of the platform. On top of that, it runs entirely on crypto, with no traditional bank accounts anywhere in the picture.

Phenom Poker Alternatives
Phenom Poker has a few rough edges worth knowing about upfront.
- Traffic is thin — peak hours top out somewhere around 200 to 300 players online at once.
- Withdrawals are locked to USDT, so you’ll need to convert back to cash yourself in case you want to spend the money.
- No tracker support, and hand histories only stick around for your current session. On the other hand, this feature keeps the games more friendly for recreational players.
- Tournament fields are quite small, but as the plus side there’s multiple tournaments a day with significant overlay in guaranteed prize pools.
Two crypto-friendly rooms worth comparing it against are CoinPoker, which currently runs a a much deeper player pool and a bigger total rakeback for the average player taking into account all the rewards, and Americas Cardroom on the Winning Poker Network, which has been around longer and has massive guaranteed tournaments. Both accept US players, same as Phenom Poker.
While both of these alternatives have much larger player pools, Phenom has a few unique characteristics that help in standing out from the crowd, that’ we will walk you through later in this review. This includes their token model that allows players to own a part of the poker room and its revenue.
Phenom Poker Strengths

While Phenom Poker is a newer poker-only operator, it’s definitely carved out a niche with arguably the deepest game selection in online poker today. This is a dream come true for mixed game specialists.
Alongside No-Limit and Limit Hold’em, you get essentially every Omaha variant (PLO, PLO5, PLO6, PLO 8/b, Big O, 6-Card PLO 8/b), Stud, Razz, 2-7 Triple Draw, Badugi, Badeucy, a long list of mixed-game rotations (8-Game, HORSE, Big Bet Mix, and more), and even Open-Face Chinese Pineapple with both 2-7 and Jokers variants. Tables at these variants are also active up to midstakes, not just listed for show.
The bigger differentiator, though, is the ownership structure. Phenom Poker is set up as a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO), a very common operating structure in crypto organizations. What this means in practice is that RNG runs on-chain rather than through a closed, proprietary server, and bankrolls sit in external Web3 wallets governed by smart contracts instead of the poker room’s internal ledger. Anyone can buy a piece of the platform, and get extra rakeback for staking tokens (which in our opinion is a no-brainer move if you are going to play any decent volume at Phenom).
The team behind it is stacked with well-known names: Brian Rast, Huck Seed, Viktor Blom, Phil Laak, Daniel Cates,Eric Baldwin, Ben Heath, Victoria Ailloud, Alec Torelli, Justin Young, Joseph Cheong, Angela Jordison, and Sergio Aido all sit under the Team Pro banner, giving the platform a level of credibility a lot of crypto-poker platforms don’t have.
On top of the pro team, Phenom currently has two content creators/streamers: Scott Kenyon and Carla Reginato.
Is Phenom Poker Easy to Use?

Phenom Poker built its own client in-house and it’s available on Windows, macOS, and directly in the browser. Web client is reasonably well optimized for playing on a phone.
The interface is fairly classic: navigation up top, table lobby at the bottom, and balance, VIP level, cashier, and settings tucked into a side panel.
Customization covers table appearance, bet sizing, opponent notes, and avatars, but there’s no support for third-party trackers, and hand histories are only saved for your current session at a table. So don’t expect to build a long-term database the way you could on other sites.
Support runs primarily through email and the Discord server; there’s currently no live chat or phone line listed, which is worth knowing if you like getting quick answers. Here’s a few screenshots from the team answer player questions:

Phenom Poker Bonuses
Every online poker room needs a hook, and Phenom Poker leads with two: a welcome bonus and its rakeback program.
New players get a 150% deposit match up to $3,000, credited automatically once you deposit $10 or more. That money doesn’t hit your account all at once — it releases in 10% increments, with $1 unlocked for every $4 in rake generated, and you’ve got 45 days to clear it.
On top of that, Phenom Poker runs a five-tier loyalty program — Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Phenom — where rakeback scales from 10% up to 30% just from playing, and up to 40% if you’re staking a meaningful amount of PHNM tokens. Rakeback is paid weekly, in PHNM.
Phenom Poker Game Selection

Phenom Poker’s site leans hard into variety, and that’s really the calling card here. The full spread includes:
- Texas Hold’em – No-Limit and Limit, from $0.02/$0.05 up to $200/$400
- Omaha – PLO, PLO5, PLO6, PLO 8/b, Big O, 6-Card PLO 8/b, Limit Omaha 8/b, plus Double Board Bomb Pots
- Stud/Razz – Seven-Card Stud, Stud 8/b, Razz, 2-7 Razz
- Draw games – 2-7 Triple Draw, NL 2-7 Single Draw, A-5 Triple Draw, Badugi, Badeucy 2-7
- Mixed games – 8-Game, H.E.R.O.S., T.O.R.S.E., O.E., Standard, Fun, Circus, Big Bet Mix, PLO Mix, and more
- OFC – Pineapple, Pineapple Progressive, and 2-7 variants
That’s a genuinely deep lineup by any poker room’s standards. The catch is traffic: peak-hour activity runs somewhere in the 100–200 range platform-wide, with much of the action concentrated at $5/$10 and higher rather than spread evenly across stakes.
What’s the First Deposit Bonus at Phenom Poker

Through Beasts of Poker, you can get an exclusive 200% welcome bonus up to $4,000. The maximum bonus is activated with a deposit of at least $2,000.
- Minimum qualifying deposit: $10
- Wagering window: 45 days
- Release rate: 10% increments, $1 released for every $4 in rake
- Effectively an additional 25% boost in rakeback rate
Rakeback and the Loyalty Program

Phenom Poker’s rakeback structure has five tiers. Buying tokens and staking them pays itself back quite quickly, in a few months or even in a few weeks if you’re a high volume player. Where you land here depends on lifetime points (1 point per dollar of rake paid) as well as how much PHNM you’ve staked. Let’s take a look at the table:
| Level | Points needed | Time to reach it | No staking | 50–499 PHNM | 500–4,999 PHNM | 5,000+ PHNM |
| Bronze | 0 | — | 10% | 11.0% | 13.0% | 15.0% |
| Silver | 100 | 30 days | 15% | 17.5% | 20.0% | 23.0% |
| Gold | 1,500 | 90 days | 20% | 22.5% | 25.0% | 28.0% |
| Platinum | 10,000 | 180 days | 25% | 27.5% | 30.0% | 33.0% |
| Phenom | 120,000 | 365 days | 30% | 33.0% | 36.0% | 40.0% |
Rakeback is paid out weekly in USDT. Phenom Poker also runs a Grand Prix Leaderboard, which includes five daily rake races split by stake level, each with a progressive prize pool. This can give active grinders an extra 5-20% return on rake. As a cherry on top, you can also find “Hot Tables” that hand out extra rakeback (up to 20%) to the first few players who sit down at randomly flagged tables. This incentivizes getting new tables running.
Cash Games and Tournaments

You’ll typically find a dozen or so active tables running Hold’em, Omaha, and mixed games in heads-up, 6-max, and 9-max formats during peak hours.
Cash games like NLHE and PLO4/PLO5/PLO6/PLO8/b have a diverse player pool, and based on playing there for several weeks the overall level is softer than on larger sites.
Phenom Poker’s tournament section caters to fans of exotic game variants. Unlike most poker rooms, you have small fields and multiple variants to choose almost all day.
The tournament schedule updates regularly, but all MTTs fall into two main categories:
- Daily GTDs — Buy-ins range from $5 to $100, with guarantees up to $500.
- Weekly Tournaments (Sunday, Monday, Wednesday) — Buy-ins go up to $250, with guarantees reaching $10,000.

A $50 freeroll runs every day. Additionally, the poker room offers status-based freerolls:
- Daily NLH Silver+ Freeroll: $100 GTD
- Sunday Tier+ Freeroll: $1,000 GTD
- Platinum+ Freeroll: $5,000 GTD, held on the first day of each month
Banking at Phenom Poker

This is where Phenom Poker looks the least like a traditional poker room.
The primary currency is USDT on the Polygon network, though deposits are accepted in a long list of other coins. These include BTC, ETH, SOL, LTC, BNB, AVAX, and more. All deposits get auto-converted to USDT at the time of deposit. Non-USDT deposits carry a conversion fee: 1.5% (minimum $2) for Bitcoin and Ethereum, 1% (minimum $0.50) for everything else.
There’s also a fiat on-ramp through a third-party service called Peer, which lets players deposit using PayPal, Revolut, Cash App, Venmo, Wise, or Zelle. Peer converts the payment to USDT and routes it into your Phenom wallet via smart contract, typically in under a minute. Peer useful if you don’t already hold crypto.
We tested Peer deposits and they arrived in under a minute after sending the money. Peer support was also helpful in locating the transaction ID, so this service is a good addition for widening the selection of deposit methods.
Withdrawals, on the other hand, are USDT-only. There’s no cap on transaction size, and once your account is verified, withdrawals are typically credited instantly. This is a big edge compared to other online poker rooms, where hours or sometimes multi-day waits can be common.
The minimum deposit to fund an account at all is just $1 so any size of player is welcome, though you’d need $10 to trigger the welcome bonus.

Identity verification (KYC) is required before you can pay or withdraw money, and involves uploading a government ID and completing a webcam check. During our testing, this process took just a few minutes to complete. While it’s not the most convenient way to start playing, you can rest assured that every player on the site has been KYC’d before they appear at the tables, making it less likely that someone tries to multi-account to take advantage of other players.
Company Background and Ownership

Phenom Poker is operated by Phenom Poker S.A., a company incorporated in Panama. The operational team is based out of Las Vegas. The founder and director is Matt Valeo, a player and businessman from Colorado.
The platform holds a license from Anjouan (part of Comoros), and its RNG is certified by iTech Labs, an established testing lab used across the online gambling industry.
Structurally, Phenom Poker positions itself as a DAO, a decentralized autonomous organization, rather than a conventional operator. That means governance and revenue-sharing decisions are, at least in part, tied to PHNM token holders and stakers rather than sitting entirely with a private ownership group the way a traditional site would run things.
Phenom Poker Company History
Phenom Poker launched in 2024, built from the outset around a DAO structure and the PHNM token. In practical terms, that’s a relatively short track record. Yet, it’s longer than a lot of the crypto-poker sites that have come and gone in that same window.
Key points in Phenom Poker’s history so far:
- 2024: Platform founded by Matt Valeo; development of the in-house client begins
- Team Pro assembled, bringing on Brian Rast, Viktor Blom, Dan Cates, Phil Laak, Huck Seed, and others as ambassadors and advisors
- RNG certification secured through iTech Labs
- PHNM token launched on the Base network, with a capped supply of 50 million tokens
- Early 2026: Rollout of the current PHNM staking system (Escalator and Hard Lock options)
- 2026: Viktor “Isildur1” Blom reportedly ran up close to $2 million in winnings over a 10-day stretch on the platform, drawing fresh attention to the site’s high-stakes tables

The PHNM Token and Ownership Model
Phenom Poker’s most distinctive pitch is that players can own a piece of the room they’re playing in.
PHNM is the platform’s native token, built on the Base network with a hard cap of 50 million tokens. Part of that supply gets distributed to players through bonuses. Token holders and stakers get a say in platform decisions and are eligible for a share of 50% of the room’s total rake revenue. This is distributed weekly in USDT, as is the rakeback that can be claimed every Monday from the previous week.
There are two ways to stake depending on your preferences:
- Escalator (flexible). Tokens stay liquid and can be withdrawn or exchanged anytime. Your multiplier starts at 0.25x and climbs gradually, maxing out at 1.50x after 104 weeks of continuous staking.
- Hard Lock (fixed). You lock tokens for a set period between 4 and 104 weeks. The multiplier is awarded immediately based on the length you choose — lock for the full 104 weeks and you get the full 1.50x multiplier right away. Tokens can’t be converted to USDT until the lock period ends, after which they roll into Escalator mode automatically.
Worth keeping in mind: With staking, there’s no set amount of guaranteed income, as the daily rake and revenue fluctuate based on the activity of the site. So naturally $PHNM’s value moves with platform activity, total rake volume, and general market demand for the token (meaning mostly more players acquiring the token for staking to get a higher rakeback tie).
The token doesn’t have a very high volume for the time being, so it’s somewhat volatile. To summarize, $PHNM gives you a share in the business and a claim on the business income (when staked) and can also multiply your rakeback.
Phenom Poker Sponsorships

Phenom Poker’s credibility leans heavily on its Team Pro roster rather than traditional advertising.
Brian Rast – A multiple WSOP bracelet winner, Rast has said Matt Valeo approached him directly about the project and asked him to come on as an ambassador; Rast has spoken publicly about being drawn to the platform’s ownership model.
Viktor “Isildur1” Blom – One of the most recognizable high-stakes names in poker, Blom has played visibly on the platform, including a widely discussed stretch of big winning sessions in 2026.
Dan Cates, Phil Laak, Huck Seed, Alec Torelli, and others – Round out a Team Pro list that also includes players from the UK, Spain, Canada, and Sweden, alongside the largely US-based core group.
Outside of its pro roster, Phenom Poker’s marketing is still mostly digital — affiliate partnerships, rake race promotions with partner sites, and word of mouth inside poker communities. It doesn’t yet have the live-event sponsorships or mainstream advertising presence that decades-old brands have built up.
Is Phenom Poker Popular in the US?
Phenom Poker explicitly welcomes US players, and it’s positioned as one of its selling points on affiliate sites. Even so, the number of tables running during our testing suggest the US player base, like the platform’s overall traffic, is still modest, with total peak concurrent players in the low hundreds across all games combined. We need to account for the timing with WSOP 2026 running while we tested the platform though, so we’re expecting more US players to return to the online felt at Phenom once WSOP is over.
There’s also competition from other crypto-first rooms chasing the same audience, most notably CoinPoker, which currently runs noticeably higher traffic.
Legal Status in the US
Online poker regulation in the US is a patchwork, and that matters here. Only a handful of states (Nevada, New Jersey, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and West Virginia) currently license and regulate online poker directly. Each of them require operators to hold a state-specific license.
Phenom Poker does not hold a license in any of those states. It operates offshore under an Anjouan license, which is entirely outside the US regulatory framework, in the same way most crypto poker rooms and offshore sportsbooks that accept US players do.
Therefore the platform isn’t licensed or overseen by any US state gaming authority, and it doesn’t come with the consumer protections a regulated in-state site would offer. The crypto-based, non-custodial banking model makes it a bit unclear how state-level enforcement tools designed around the traditional banking system would apply to a platform that never touches a bank at all.
Will Phenom Poker Get Licensed in The States?
There’s no public indication that Phenom Poker is pursuing licensing in any regulated US state right now.
Its entire structure (a DAO, an offshore license, tokenized rewards, crypto-only withdrawals) sits pretty far from what US state gaming commissions typically require of licensed operators. Getting there would mean rethinking large parts of how the platform is built, which would be a much heftier operation than just applying for a license and filing paperwork. For now, Phenom Poker looks mostly built for the international, crypto-native market.
What Do Other Players Say About Phenom

‘’I really want to like Phenom as I’m a big fan of Mix games – however, about 95% of the time I can’t even join a table to play, constantly met with a “failure to join table” pop up. Or the other day I actually got a seat but then there was an error adding chips so I still couldn’t play, so tilting. Do Phenom even have any engineers working on their site I’m guessing if Isildur has a problem they’re bending over backwards and fixing it super-quick… this is the trouble when poker players run a business, they have no clue or don’t even give a **** about the absolute basics, see Full Tilt etc’’

I played on Phenom before too, but the software is extremely frustrating. Basic things are missing or broken (like proper sound effect settings, auto-reload not working) and they still haven’t been fixed, even though they were reported many months ago.
Phenom has potential long-term, but ignoring core usability is pushing players away.
Instead of fixing fundamental gameplay issues, the focus seems to be on low-priority features.

‘’Some thoughts…
Firstly I’d like to say how excellent the site and software has been built from scratch, amazing to have so many mixed games on offer with new things being constantly added. Also I feel very proud to say that I think we have the best support in the business right now and I hope these are standards we must look to maintain as the site builds and grows.
The main problem I see now is that there aren’t enough new players coming to the site and I attribute this highly to us having too much of a mixed games focus. This damages the overall ecosystem as it means that there aren’t hold-em players dabbling with the mixed games and we need those NLH players to serve as the soft players when they do choose to dabble. Ultimately if we want the site to build and grow to the next level we NEED to have a far better NLH MTT schedule. This will help new player retention immensely. While Full Tilt in the past had a great mixed games emphasis to the site it also had a large NLH MTT schedule which will have helped to boost those fields also.
You look at how well CoinPoker did with their recent series, ultimately it’s NLH that gets those big numbers and big prizepools. Building/growing that side of the site will massively help the overall ecosystem.
When it comes to Chinese Poker I have to think to myself why it is that other sites don’t have/offer it and ultimately I believe it’s because these games are impossible to multitable and as a result impact the rake of a player who could instead be playing/raking 10+ tables at the same time. For the good of the ecosystem of the site I believe that Open Face Chinese should only be playable on mobile and only 1 table in order to solve some of the game integrity issues that we could face with the game.
Curious what you guys think about this… Let me know

Is Phenom Poker the Best Poker Room?
Based on criteria used by most online poker players, it’s hard to put Phenom at the top.
The strongest poker rooms combine deep traffic at every stake, great rewards, big tournament guarantees and a long track record. Phenom Poker is still building these elements.
That said, it earns real credit in a few areas. The game selection is arguably the deepest in online poker right now. Their Team Pro roster brings a level of credibility most new sites can’t match. The DAO/PHNM structure offers something no traditional room does, which is the possibility of acquiring an actual stake in the platform’s success. For experienced, crypto-comfortable players who love mixed games and exotic formats, Phenom Poker is a legitimately an interesting option, and can be very profitable.
For a recreational player who just wants deep cash game traffic and a standard bank transfer, it’s a harder sell. On the other hand, if you’re looking to play micro or low stakes tournaments with overlay and fields that are not full of serious grinders, Phenom has this offering for recreational players.
Phenom Poker Review 2026: Summary
Looking at Phenom Poker heading into the second half of 2026, the platform comes across as a well-backed, technically ambitious operator that’s carved out a real niche rather than trying to out-market the big networks.
The strongest points here are the game selection which is one of the broadest in the industry, and the credibility that comes from a named founder, a licensed and RNG-certified operation, and a Team Pro roster that includes players like Brian Rast and Viktor Blom. The rakeback program is also genuinely competitive, scaling up to 40% for players who stake PHNM at the top tier.
The weak points are just as clear. Traffic remains thin and tournament fields are small.
Overall, Phenom Poker is a legitimate, credibly backed platform that appeals to poker players who are familiar with using crypto.
Phenom Poker FAQ
Is Phenom Poker legal in the US? Phenom Poker isn’t licensed in any of the states that currently regulate online poker directly (Nevada, New Jersey, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and West Virginia). It operates offshore under an Anjouan license and welcomes US players anyway. Playing there generally isn’t something individual players get prosecuted for, but you won’t have the protections that come with a licensed, state-regulated site.
Is Phenom Poker safe? Phenom Poker holds an Anjouan license, uses RNG certified by iTech Labs, and requires KYC verification before withdrawals. Funds are held in external, non-custodial Web3 wallets rather than an internal house account, which limits operator risk but puts more responsibility on the player to secure their own wallet.
Who owns Phenom Poker? The platform is operated by Phenom Poker S.A., a Panama-incorporated company with a team based in Las Vegas. The founder and director is Matt Valeo. Structurally, the platform runs as a DAO, meaning token holders also have a say in governance.
How fast does Phenom Poker pay out? Withdrawals are processed in USDT and typically land in a player’s wallet within 15–20 minutes of approval, once identity verification is complete.
What’s the Phenom Poker welcome bonus? New players get a 150% deposit match up to $3,000 on a minimum $10 deposit. The bonus releases in 10% increments as you generate rake, with a 45-day window to clear it.
What is the PHNM token? PHNM is Phenom Poker’s native token, built on the Base network with a 50-million-token supply cap. Players earn it through rakeback and promotions, can stake it for a rakeback multiplier up to 1.5x, and stakers are eligible for a share of 50% of the platform’s weekly rake revenue. Its value depends on platform activity and token demand, not a fixed rate.
Does Phenom Poker have good traffic? Not really, at least not yet. Peak concurrent players run somewhere in the 100–200 range site-wide, with most activity concentrated in cash games at $5/$10 and above. Tournament fields, including freerolls, tend to be small.
How do you withdraw money from Phenom Poker? Log into your account, head to the cashier, and confirm a withdrawal to your own USDT wallet. Identity verification (government ID plus a webcam check) is required before your first withdrawal.
